I was going to summarize the Spanish pronunciation rules I’ve grasped this far, when I noticed that my previous “Learning Spanish” article has already been liked by Besame Coño. Now Besame means “kiss me”, as everybody knows from Cesaria Evora (if not from Great Expectations). But Coño?! What dat?

Well, according to the wiktionary it can be pussy, cunt, vulva, but it can also mean Spaniard in Chile, wealthy Spaniard in Philippines and knuckle hit in the head in Mexico. It can also be an interjection similar to damn!/fuck!/shit!. Examples:

• Coño, qué buena está! (Damn she looks good!)
• ¡Coño! ¡Mira qué pasó! (Damn! look what happened!)
• Yo no sé un coño de eso (I don’t know shit about that)
• ¿Dónde coño estás? (Where the fuck are you?)
• ¡Coñazo! (in Dominican Republic: a stronger expression, like “fuck!”)
• ¡Coñazo! (in Venezuela: a hard hit, a punch)
• ¡Qué se vaya pa’l coño de su madre (Venezuela, Cuba and Spain) (He can go to his mother’s cunt, like “He can go to hell”) Here it is used under its literal meaning.
